Description

Use this endpoint to retrieve the result of a Canada GST/HST registry check. Compliancely queries the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) GST/HST registry and returns the source response for the business name, GST/HST account number, and transaction date you submitted.

Possible statuses

• GST/HST number registered on this transaction date.
• Insufficient information entered.
• GST/HST number was not registered on this transaction date.
• GST/HST number is not valid.
• Transaction date cannot be a future date.

These statuses reflect the CRA’s determination for the request. If you receive one of the responses below, it is what the source returned—not a Compliancely validation error. Review the submitted details and retry if needed.

If you receive "Insufficient information entered."
Per the CRA, the information provided does not match their records. Confirm that the business name (including name order), GST/HST account number, and transaction date match what the supplier provided, then submit the request again.

If you receive "GST/HST number was not registered on this transaction date."
Per the CRA, the supplier was not registered for GST/HST on the transaction date entered. Confirm the business name, GST/HST account number, and transaction date, then submit the request again.
